For the educational Empowerment of students belonging to the notified Minority Communities including Muslim in the country, the Ministry of Minority Affairs implements three Scholarship Schemes and a Fellowship Scheme.
To ensure effective implementation of these Schemes, activity timelines are drawn up and communicated to all stakeholders. Periodic reviews are undertaken with State Governments/ UT Administrations.
Further, the Ministry of Minority Affairs finalizes its media plan in consultation with Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity, All India Radio, Doordarshan, National Film Development Corporation etc. at the beginning of each financial year. Multimedia campaigns are used to reach the target group. The Schemes are -
i. Pre-matric Scholarship Scheme:- Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme is for notified minority communities students studying in class I to X, whose parental/guardian income is upto Rs.1 lakh per annum and who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination. 30% of this scholarship is earmarked for girl students.
ii. Post-matric Scholarship Scheme:- Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme is for notified minority communities students studying in class XI to Ph.D, whose parental/guardian income is upto Rs.2 lakh per annum and who have secured not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination. 30% of this scholarship is earmarked for girl students.
iii. Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Scheme:- Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Scheme is for notified minority communities for pursuing technical and professional courses at under-graduate and post-graduate level.
Students who claim this scholarship scheme without taking competitive examinations should have secured not less than 50% marks in the last qualifying examination.
The annual income of the family from all sources should not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh. 30% of this scholarship is earmarked for girl students.
iv. Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANF) for Minority Students:-Maulana Azad National Fellowship is a Fellowship Scheme for all notified minority communities students/candidates who intend to pursue M.Phil and Ph.D and whose parental/guardian income does not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh per annum. 30% of this scholarship is earmarked for girl students.
