The international crude oil price for Indian Basket as computed/published today by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has recorded sharp increase on 03.4.2012 to rule at US$ 123.39 per barrel (bbl). The price previously computed/ published on 03.04.2012 based on trading figures of 02.04.2012, was US$ 121.67 per bbl.
In rupee terms, however the crude oil price was only marginally higher at Rs 6238.60 on 3.4.2012 against Rs 6224.64per bbl on 02.04.2012, due to rupee appreciation despite sharp rise in crude price in dollar terms. The rupee-dollar exchange rate on 3.4.2012 was Rs 50.56 /US$ against Rs 51.16/US$ on 02.04.2012.
